OM 5E

The OM 5E features an elliptical stylus that provides balanced, distortion-free playback.

If your tonearm has a standard headshell or cartridge mount, enhance your sound reproduction with the OM series. A glance at any of these cartridges reveals Ortofon's solution for perfect tonearm matching. Ingeniously built into the top of the mounting bracket is a small, removable weight plate.

For a standard tonearm, leave the weight plate in place. If you have a low-mass tonearm, simply remove the weight. The mass of your OM cartridge will then be a mere 2.5g.

Styli Types and Interchangeability With a variety of replacement styli available, the OM 5 Series can be optimally matched to your home system, application, and budget.

In designing OM cartridges, a major goal was to allow music lovers to improve sound reproduction without replacing the entire cartridge. Rather than being intended solely for replacement after wear or damage, the OM 5 Series enables you to upgrade sound quality simply by upgrading the stylus.

Depending on your preference, styli for the OM 5 Series are easily interchangeable and include: styli 3E, 5E, 10, 20, 30, 40, 78, and D 25 M.

The OM 5 Series

The Ortofon OM 5 Series consists of three primary cartridges: OM 5S, OM 5E, and Super OM 5E.

This series is the lightest range of moving magnet cartridges offered by Ortofon. OM cartridges are designed for easy mounting and alignment on both top-mount and bottom-mount headshells. The OM 5 Series offers excellent compatibility across various playback systems and a wide range of phono preamps.

Super OM 5E Major Improvements:

Through computer simulations, Ortofon has precisely defined the natural pivot point of the system, achieving optimal oscillation balance. The result is improved linearity, higher channel separation, and reduced distortion.

The Super OM models feature split pole pins, reducing magnetic losses at high frequencies, which extends the frequency range and improves phase linearity. The OM Super 5 cartridge body is made from Noryl (a plastic and glass compound), ensuring high rigidity and resistance to resonance.
