The Ortofon Exclusive 2M Black LVB 250 Model
The 2M Black flagship from Ortofon is widely acknowledged as one of the best MM cartridges on the market. However, at Ortofon, being the best doesn’t mean that we can’t get better.
The 2M Black LVB 250 upgrades the excellent build of the 2M Black with a boron cantilever and our proprietary Nano Tube suspension system. The result is a sound so precise and detailed that it feels like you have invited the artist into your home, performing right in your living room.
The 2M Black LVB was released to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven in December 2020.
Beyond Amazing - Like Having the Artist in the Room with You
The 2M Black is an outstanding cartridge and is considered by many to be the ultimate in moving magnet technology. So, why would we attempt to create something even better? Because perfection runs in our blood. The 2M Black LVB 250 enhances the already impressive build of the 2M Black, resulting in a sound so precise and detailed that it feels like you have invited the artist into your home.
Benefits of High-End Materials
The 2M Black LVB 250 is built on the concepts of its predecessor, the 2M Black, but its performance takes a step further to enhance the cartridge’s capabilities and technical excellence.
Stylus - Nude Shibata Diamond on a Boron Cantilever
The 2M Black LVB 250 features a Nude Shibata diamond stylus mounted on a boron cantilever.
The slim, highly polished profile of the Nude Shibata stylus allows for an exceedingly wide contact area with the groove walls, ensuring notably detailed reproduction throughout the spectrum, including the highest frequencies. The use of an extremely stiff and lightweight boron cantilever adds remarkable transparency, speed, and responsiveness.
Rubber Suspension - Nano Tube Suspension System
The 2M Black LVB 250 features our proprietary Nano Tube suspension system. The new rubber compound formula is based on Multi-Wall Carbon Nano Tubes (MWCNT) as a highly efficient nano filler. This MWCNT-based compound offers desirable mechanical properties, ensuring better damping and improved overall performance of the cartridge.
Compatibility - Universal Fit
The 2M Series is designed for easy cartridge mounting, weight, and size to fit most common turntables today.
The 2M Series is available in four different product configurations: the 2M for the most common turntables on the market; the 2M Premounted for customers who wish for direct and easy mounting and replacement on their S-shaped tonearms; the 2M Verso for bottom-mount headshells; and the 2MR, designed with a cartridge housing tailored for turntables and tonearms like Rega, matching their requirements for low-form factor cartridges.
NOTE: All 2M Series styluses, coils, and magnets are not necessarily interchangeable.
The 2M Series' engines, coils, and magnet configurations are not identical. 2M series styli are interchangeable within the following combinations:
- 2M Red, 2M Blue, and 2M Silver
- 2M Bronze, 2M Black, and 2M Black LVB 250
- 2M Mono and 2M 78
