Frequently Asked Questions
What is Bluesound, and are its products good?
Bluesound is designed in Canada and built on NAD Electronics' decades of audio engineering, and it helped pioneer wireless hi-res multi-room audio through its BluOS platform. It is also heavily awarded: the NODE Icon won the What Hi-Fi? Award 2025 for Best Music Streamer and Product of the Year in its category, plus an EISA award. At Vinyl Sound USA in Buffalo, New York the range covers streamers, streaming amplifiers, wireless speakers, and soundbars. We are glad to help you build the right system.
Which Bluesound products does Vinyl Sound USA carry?
The Bluesound lineup at Vinyl Sound USA includes the NODE Nano, NODE, and NODE Icon streamers, the POWERNODE and POWERNODE Edge streaming amplifiers, the PULSE Flex, PULSE M, PULSE Mini 2i, and PULSE 2i wireless speakers, the PULSE Sub+ subwoofer, the PULSE Cinema Mini 2.1 and PULSE Cinema 3.2.2 soundbars, the Vault 2i and Hub, plus wall mounts, a floor stand, a remote, and the Dirac room calibration kit. Tell us your rooms and goals and we will suggest the right pieces.
What is a music streamer, and which Bluesound NODE should I choose?
A music streamer plays high-resolution music from services and your network through your existing hi-fi, adding modern streaming to any system. At Vinyl Sound USA the NODE Nano is the compact, affordable entry, the NODE is the popular full-featured model with an upgraded DAC and headphone amp, and the NODE Icon is the award-winning flagship with a dual-mono DAC, color display, HDMI eARC, balanced XLR output, and Dirac Live. You add a streamer to an amp or receiver. Share your system and we will match the right one.
What is a streaming amplifier, and do I need the Bluesound POWERNODE?
A streaming amplifier combines the streamer and the amplifier in one box, so you just add speakers for a complete system with no separate amp. At Vinyl Sound USA the POWERNODE is the full-power BluOS streaming amp, and the POWERNODE Edge is a more compact, accessible version. Both are ideal for a clean, modern two-channel or multi-room setup. Tell us your speakers and we will help you choose.
Should I get a Bluesound NODE or a POWERNODE?
Choose a NODE streamer if you already have an amplifier or receiver and want to add streaming, and choose a POWERNODE if you want streaming and amplification in one unit and just need to connect speakers. The NODE keeps your current amp, while the POWERNODE simplifies the system. Your speakers and existing gear usually decide it. Vinyl Sound USA can help you pick the right path.
What is BluOS?
BluOS is the platform that powers Bluesound, and it supports over 20 streaming services including Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify, and Amazon Music HD, with lossless hi-res audio and seamless multi-room grouping from one app. It is a big part of why Bluesound is a benchmark for whole-home streaming. Every Bluesound player at Vinyl Sound USA runs BluOS. Ask us how it ties your rooms together.
How does Bluesound multi-room audio work?
With BluOS you can group multiple Bluesound players over your home network and play the same music in sync across rooms, or different music in each, all from the BluOS app. At Vinyl Sound USA you can mix streamers, streaming amps, and PULSE wireless speakers in one system and expand it over time. It is a flexible way to cover a whole home. Tell us your rooms and we will map out a system.
Which Bluesound wireless speaker should I choose?
It depends on room size and use. At Vinyl Sound USA the PULSE Flex is the compact, portable option and pairs with the BP100 battery for cordless use, the PULSE M is a room-filling all-in-one, and the PULSE Mini 2i and PULSE 2i step up in size and output for larger rooms. All stream over Wi-Fi and work in a BluOS multi-room system. Share your room and we will recommend the right speaker.
Does Bluesound make a soundbar for home theater?
Yes. At Vinyl Sound USA the PULSE Cinema Mini 2.1 and the larger PULSE Cinema 3.2.2 are wireless streaming soundbars with Dolby Atmos, and they double as BluOS multi-room players for music. You can add the PULSE Sub+ wireless subwoofer for deeper bass and PULSE speakers as wireless surrounds. It is a clean way to build a home theater without running speaker wire. Tell us your TV and room and we will match the right setup.
What audio quality and formats does Bluesound support?
Bluesound is a true hi-res platform, playing lossless audio up to 24-bit/192kHz through BluOS, along with MQA decoding on supported models. MQA is a format designed to deliver studio-quality streams in an efficient file, which some services offer. At Vinyl Sound USA the NODE and NODE Icon are strong choices for getting the most from hi-res sources. Tell us which services you use and we will confirm the best fit.
What are the Bluesound Vault 2i and Hub?
The Vault 2i is a CD ripper, streamer, and network hard drive in one, so you can rip your CD collection to lossless files and stream them across your BluOS system. The Hub is a wireless source adapter and network preamp that brings a turntable, TV, or other source into BluOS for multi-room playback. Both extend what a Bluesound system can do. Vinyl Sound USA can help you decide if either fits your needs.
What Bluesound accessories does Vinyl Sound USA carry?
Beyond the players, Vinyl Sound USA offers the WM100, WM200, and WM230 wall mount brackets for the PULSE speakers, the FS231 adjustable floor stand for the PULSE M and Flex, the BP100 battery pack for the PULSE Flex, the RC1 remote control, and the Room Calibration Kit for Dirac Live. These help you place and tune your system. Tell us your speakers and we will confirm the right mounts and extras.
