Founded in Treviso, Italy in 1987, Unison Research has established itself as Italy's leading manufacturer of vacuum tube amplifiers and among the top tube amplifier brands in Europe, hand-building components that combine meticulously selected vacuum tubes, carefully engineered circuits, and premium Italian craftsmanship into amplifiers that deliver a rich, natural, and emotionally engaging listening experience. The Unison Research lineup at Vinyl Sound Buffalo spans the Simply Italy, Simply Italy Black Edition, Triode 25, Triode 25 Black Edition, S6, S6 Black Edition, Sinfonia, and Performance integrated amplifiers, alongside the Phono One phono preamplifier and the Unico CD Uno and CDE CD players with tube output stages, covering complete all-Italian tube audio systems from source through amplification. Unison Research components have received some of the most distinguished critical recognition in high-end audio. The Unison Research S6 Black Edition integrated amplifier won Stereophile's Products of 2025 Editors' Choice Award, with reviewer Herb Reichert describing its three KT77 tubes per channel operating in Class A Ultralinear configuration as delivering texturally rich, sweetly saturated, cosmically tonal music messages with natural-sounding dynamics, writing that it is a tube amplifier that perhaps only an Italian manufacturer could create, a sound so full of presence, colour, and life-affirming grandeur that every act of musical replication was a feast for the ears. The Unison Research Triode 25 received a What Hi-Fi? five-star review, praised as yet another superb design from Unison Research — great to use and even better to listen to — with What Hi-Fi? highlighting its sonic delicacy and insight, impressive refinement and dynamic fluidity, and terrific build quality. The Triode 25 Black Edition upgrades the original with premium components, electronic bias optimisation for KT77 output tubes, piano black front panel, and an optional DAC3 board providing USB, TOSLINK, and coaxial digital inputs, while offering 30 watts per channel in triode mode and 50 watts per channel in pentode mode. Unison Research's Black Edition series — comprising the Simply Italy Black Edition, Triode 25 Black Edition, and S6 Black Edition — represents the culmination of Unison Research's tube amplifier philosophy, incorporating Genalex Gold Lion KT77 and ECC83 signal tubes selected for their superb linearity, balanced sections, and ability to produce a large, detailed soundstage, alongside upgraded circuit components and electronic autobias systems that maintain optimal tube operating points across the full lifespan of the output valves. Competing Italian tube amplifier brands including Audio Analogue, Pathos, and Synthesis address portions of the same market, but Unison Research's four decades of continuous tube amplifier development, Treviso hand manufacturing, and Stereophile Editor's Choice recognition for the S6 Black Edition establish it as the definitive Italian tube integrated amplifier available at Vinyl Sound USA in Buffalo, NY.
