The TD 1601, featuring the new TP 160 tonearm, represents a consistent development of the multi-award-winning TD 1601. It has a classic wooden base, a two-piece machined aluminum platter with an internally routed ground drive belt. The external linear power supply TPN 1600 is equipped with a high-performance toroidal transformer and provides the synchronous motor with 2x 16V for the highest possible turntable rotation stability. The new TP 160 tonearm, developed by renowned designer Helmut Thiele, has an ultra-precise foot bearing. This J-shaped 9-inch tonearm with SME head connection is inspired by the design of famous studio tonearms. The horizontal bearing blade is additionally stabilized with magnets, ensuring the most precise tracking of the vinyl record.

The three springs of the sub-chassis do not hang from the top plate, but rest on the ground. At the same time, a steel thread stretched from the motor pulley axis to the turntable axis prevents lateral tilting and ensures that the sub-chassis oscillates as much as possible like a piston. In addition, it offers the convenience of a patented electric lift and a touchless shut-off mechanism.

Balanced outputs (XLR) provide a professional connection. Because a phono signal requires significant amplification, it is particularly susceptible to electrical interference. A balanced connection via XLR sockets ensures the lowest possible chance of interference between the turntable and the phono preamplifier. To use a true balanced connection, the turntable must be equipped with a moving coil (MC) pickup.
