VPI HW-40-B Black Edition Turntable, Award-Winning Direct Drive in a Full-Sized Design
The VPI HW-40-B Black Edition brings VPI's award-winning direct-drive sound to a traditional, full-sized turntable. It features a high-torque three-phase BLDC motor, with each phase individually powered by its own internal Class D amplifier, combining cutting-edge motor technology with classic design. A high-mass turntable engineered for ultimate stability and performance, the HW-40 Black can be paired with either a VPI Unipivot or Gimbal tonearm so you can tailor the setup to your preferred listening experience. Handmade in the USA, it is available now at Vinyl Sound in Buffalo, NY USA.
Key Features
The integrated three-phase BLDC motor sits in an optimized, isolated housing, driving a stainless steel shaft that spins in an inverted phosphor bronze bushing. The platter is machined from solid aluminum with an MDF damping layer and rotates on an inverted bearing for stability and low noise. A precision-machined and dampened aluminum top plate, highly damped acrylic sides combined with an aluminum frame, and machined aluminum feet with a vibration-damping polymer core all work together to reject resonance. The HW-40 Black ships with the 12-inch Fatboy Gimbal tonearm for reference-grade tracking.
